FBI Special Agent Jack Paris didn’t know why Alvin Cooper killed his own family five years ago. He just knew the man was guilty. When Cooper escapes a minimum-security prison and a young girl goes missing, he quickly becomes the chief suspect, and Agent Paris is back on the manhunt to capture a murderer before it’s too late. It’s the hottest summer on record in the Central Valley and the girl is a diabetic; without her medication, she won’t survive long. In this race against time, Agent Jack Paris soon uncovers a conspiracy more sinister than he could have possibly imagined.

Compelling and depressing. The story begins with the lead detective reminiscing about a dog being burned alive. Graphic brutality, no drag-you-down drama. Not all questions are answered.
This story is easy to follow but difficult to read due to the constant murders. The killer is not caught.
There are several twists throughout to keep the reader guessing.
Believable characters with distinct personalities. Interesting dialogue.
No desire to re-read this story or follow the series. I may be interested in other works by this author.

Fragmented George Fong 9780615965482 Books Reviews
Started this book yesterday, finished today. There was not a dull moment in this entire book! I could tell Fong was writing from his personal experiences and I wondered how anyone could see, hear and live through those experiences enough to tell this story. The writing was perfect, tense and intriguing. Highly recommended reading! Next is Fong’s book two!
This book has lightning pace and several surprises up its sleeve. Plus, as far as procedure goes, it's impeccable (which you'd expect from George Fong's background).
The only area where I felt it was a little short was the personality of the central character, Jack. This may be a function of the speedy pace of the story development -- maybe too much personal would have gotten in the way. We do see that Jack is driven, conscientious, and loves his family. But since the door is open for a sequel, we should get to find out more.
This story hooked me from the very beginning and held my attention to the very end. There is no question given his Law Enforcement experience, that Mr. Fong is vocationally qualified to write about the subject matter, but that isn’t what makes this book such a pleasure to read. The fact of the matter is that George Fong is a superior storyteller. He brings a reality to the page that pulls the reader along at a pace that teases, and then delivers with every chapter. From Special Agent Jack Paris in the lead, there isn’t a single character in the book that seems either far-fetched or overdone. The touch of believability is striking and engaging, and it leaves you wanting the book to continue.
THIS BOOK WAS A GASP OF BREATH ON EVERY PAGE.
IT WAS SOOOO EXCITING, AND EXTREMELY WELL WRITTEN
IF YOU LIKE GREAT THRILLERS AND MARVELOUS CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT..........IT IS A MUST READ‼️
IF POSSIBLE, I WOULD GIVE IT 10 STARS. IT IS THAT BREATH HOLDING.
I am not going to post a synopsis as I would hate to give anything away! But, I have to say that It was one of the best books I've read in YEARS. Mr Fong weaves an intriguing storyline that is not only believable, but hard to so intense its very difficult to put the book down. I sincerely recommend this book! Please Mr. Fong, write another one!
I'm sorry, but this book is just too sloppy.. I was only about 100 pages into it and I couldnt' take it anymore. For example, instead the home where the killer recently vacated is a styrofoam cup with cooling coffee. Do they dust for prints? no They go to a bank where the killer applied for a loan. He touched a framed photograph on the desk of the loan officer. They dust for prints but do they bother checking the video surveillance cameras? no I suppose these questions all may be answered later in the book, but the story was just not interesting enough (finely detailed enough) to keep my interest. ALmost like the author wants to tell the story in a hurry without bothering to make sure it makes any sense.
As FBI special agent, Jack Paris investigates the kidnapping of a young girl , all evidence and his instinct points to murderer, Alvin Cooper, who years ago murdered his wife and young daughter, then received a light sentence because he copped a deal with the prosecutor. After escaping from the minimum security prison,, Alvin Cooper disappears and the paths Jack and his people take to try to find him online is suspenseful and keep you on the edge of your seat as the police and FBI gets closer and closer to capturing him.
However, as the FBI is closing in on him and his accomplice, the plot becomes convoluted and becomes more unbelievable and not quite realistic. It is as if the author just wants to rush to a conclusion and tie up loose ends to finish the story. Because of that It really detracts from the whole realistic feel of the rest of the plot. If you enjoy fast actions and read about serial killers you may enjoy this book.
